Linedata Exchange London 2024 brought together Linedata executives and leaders from across the asset management ecosystem to discuss the latest technology and the state of the industry for another year. In a series of roundtables, panels and keynotes at the Westin London City Hotel on 6 June 2024, the exchange offered the latest thinking on AI, data, digital transformation, and practical ways to adapt to market challenges via innovation. Continue reading to discover the highlights of the main sessions, intertwined with our insights on the day's key themes.
A Rapidly Changing Business Landscape
After a year of market and political upheaval, asset managers are navigating an unpredictable business landscape in 2024. Market recovery means more wealth washing around the world economy and an opportunity for asset managers to demonstrate their value. The great wealth transfer from older generations to younger generations requires more value-added services for new demographics. AI promises a great leap forward in efficiency, but asset managers are struggling to achieve return on investment.
As a result, a theme that quickly emerged at LDX London 2024 was around how exponential change in client needs requires an exponential change in the technologies to support those needs. It is vital to stay in constant communication with clients to solve challenges and provide tools that can flex as strategies evolve. In this spirit, this year’s exchange trialled breakout rooms, providing an opportunity to interact directly with Linedata product managers on topics like fund accounting, compliance, operational processes, and data and analytics. Audience and experts were encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, and talk through solutions together throughout the day.
Customer Panel: Partners in Transformation
Our panelists exchanged success stories and lessons learned as they embraced opportunities and adapted to market challenges.
AI a Headline All Day, Every Day
LDX London 2024 confirmed that AI is still the topic dominating headlines across the asset management industry. However, the conversation has moved beyond the initial hype. Many panels considered ways to identify client needs first, then moving on to a proof of concept, then working out what makes the most sense for different regions, technology stacks and business cases, before finally rolling out an AI solution.
There was also an abiding sense that we won’t know the true impact of AI for some time. Timothée Raymond, Linedata’s Head of Innovation & Technology, suggested that power lies in the million small impacts that add up to a larger impact. AI is streamlining thousands of micro-interactions in the back offices of asset managers, and all our daily lives, but we won’t know the true impact for decades. Talk at LDX focused on the use cases of personas from research analysts to financial advisors, considering where to add real value now and into the future, while embracing a healthy dose of caution in the face of uncertainty.
Linedata Business and Market Update
Linedata leadership shared a behind-the-scenes look at strategic initiatives and priorities as our business evolved with client and market requirements
Building a Culture of Innovation
Attendees were left with the feeling that change is what brings opportunity and necessitates innovation. With so much change in the world, Linedata are committed to providing innovation for their clients, taking a pain point, and building around it to bring new technologies and solutions to market. However, this can only be achieved by creating the right events, spaces, and environments, so the whole ecosystem can thrive. This year’s exchange evidenced this, with Linedata partners and customers coming together to discuss challenges, brainstorm solutions and start conversations that will undoubtedly continue, leading to new products and solutions.
Exploring the Intersection of Business, AI, and I
Innovation is vital but must deliver bottom-line benefits. Our panel discussed how they were using a range of cutting-edge technologies—including AI and Generative AI—to help transform their operations and drive business success.
Our Charities
Generosity was at the heart of our recent Linedata Exchange event, and it truly made a difference. At #LDXLondon2024, we had the pleasure of witnessing an extraordinary display of kindness. Each attendee was given three £10 tokens to donate to one of three admirable causes: The Prince’s Trust, British Heart Foundation, and Rewilding Britain. The warmth and generosity shown by everyone there were beyond inspiring. We are deeply moved by the significant contributions made towards the noble causes. It was a beautiful reminder of the impact we can create when we come together for a common purpose
Closing Remarks
Jamil Jiva, Linedata's Global Head of Asset Management, closed out the event with a memorable closing speech where he underscored Linedata's commitment to being at the leading edge of helping clients address industry challenges.
